“Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our greatest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” - Nelson Mandela, Inaugural Speech, 1995

Painting allows me to access that power and express it in a way that is alive with emotion and passion.  As an artist, I want to create work that evokes a response; I want people to be struck by it – I am looking for a powerful, instant reaction. I want to express my responses and reactions to the things I see and experience as distilled through the lens of my experiences.

My current body of work is a series of abstractions based on photos from the Hubble Space Telescope.  I am continually fascinated by these images brought back to earth over vast distances.  As a student of the quantum field, I am searching for the point in the space time continuum that would allow access to the unseen power of the universe.  My paintings are one vehicle to enable this internal exploration.  Using acrylic paint and gel mediums on a large canvas surface, I try to reach the unknowable through manipulation of the images.
